Subject :-High Court, O.O.C.J. Writ Petition No.50 of 2006
Save Worli Sea Face Samiti
Versus
The State of Maharashtra & Ors.
Sirs,
The above writ petition came up before His Lordship the Hon’ble Mr.Justice R.M. Lodha and His Lordship Justice S.J. Vazifdar on 6th and 7th of July, 2006, when I appeared on your behalf.
The above petition challenges the alignment of the Bandra-Worli Sea Link Way and in particular the 150 and odd mts. Shift in alignment towards the sea at the point where it exists, Opp.Pratiksha Building on the Worli Sea Face. This change in alignment was challenged by the petitioners on the ground that fresh environment clearance is required to be obtained from the Committee of the Union of India, which had not been done. The petitioners also allege that due to the change in alignment namely, due to the shifting of the bridge outwards towards the sea by about 150 mts. cost of the project had increased from Rs.400 crores to Rs.1300/- crores, which was also arbitrary and also only to favour the Respondent NO.8, the contractor.
After hearing the undersigned and all other parties concerned, the above petition was dismissed on 7th July, 2006.
Yours faithfully,
N.P.Pandit
