Mumbai | May 10, 2026: A massive 'Beach Clean-up' drive was successfully organized at Dadar Chowpatty on May 10, 2026, in collaboration with the 'Mumbai Art & Health Festival' and the Khushiya Foundation, supported by the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board.
Hon’ble Chairman of MPCB, Shri. Siddhesh Kadam, personally participated in the cleanliness drive and interacted with the participants. During the event, he emphasized the importance of collective action in maintaining the state’s coastal ecology and achieving a pollution-free environment.
The initiative saw the presence of Devika Kadam (Chairperson, Mumbai Art & Health Festival), Chinu Kwatra (Khushiya Foundation), along with senior officials from the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board and a large number of dedicated volunteers from the Mumbai Art & Health Festival.
Mumbai | May 8, 2026: The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board has achieved a significant milestone by securing the First Rank in digital training under the 'Tech Wari 2.0' initiative. This success was attained under the visionary leadership of MPCB Chairman, Shri. Siddhesh Kadam, and the strategic guidance of Member Secretary, Shri. Rahul Rekhawar (IAS).
As part of the 'Mahasadhana Saptah 2026', organized to enhance speed and transparency in administrative functions, MPCB recorded the highest number of registrations and course completions on the iGOT (Integrated Government Online Training) platform. During the 'Tech Wari 2.0' ceremony, MPCB’s Administrative Officer, Shri. Pramod Nandgaonkar, accepted the first-place award on behalf of the Board.
This achievement reflects the dedication and commitment of every officer and staff member of the Board. MPCB remains steadfast in its mission to protect the environment and empower administration through the seamless integration of advanced technology.
Shri Siddhesh Kadam, Chairman of the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB), attended the prestigious 'Plastics Recycling Show (PRS) Europe 2026' in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Marking the conference’s 10th anniversary, he joined an impactful panel discussion on “The Importance of Traceability in the Global Plastic Trade.”
During the session, Shri Siddhesh Kadam emphasized key strategic pillars for a circular economy. He advocated for seamless and transparent data exchange between Europe, Asia, and the Americas, noting that traceability is only effective when handled as a global collective.He highlighted India’s landmark initiative of the mandatory QR code system implemented since July 2025, which allows the common man to track the origin and recycling journey of plastic products.He reaffirmed India's ambitious mandate to increase the use of recycled content in food-grade packaging from 30% to 40%.He detailed how India is utilizing the GST system as a powerful instrument to monitor traceability and ensure strict compliance in plastic waste management.
Shri Siddhesh Kadam engaged in insightful dialogue with global industry leaders, including David Eslava (Plastics Recyclers Europe), Hermes Panagiotopoulos (Indorama Ventures), Raphael Bassiano (FEAD), Yvonne van Veen (INEOS), and Will Collins (Argus Media). Also present at the event were Shri Nandkumar Gurav (Technical Advisor, MPCB) and Mr. Taheer Patrawala (Managing Director, Media Fusion).

A meeting through VC with officials of Osaka City Government of Japan after signing of MoU for study of Osaka city environmental initiatives. Hon’ble Member Secretary has asked about initiatives taken by Osaka city in solid waste management, plastic waste and circular economy, waste to energy, high efficiency sewage treatment with low energy footprint, implementation of MBR technology in dense urban area, city level GHG inventory, advance waste incineration facilities, etc.

Professor Michael Greenstone, Milton Friedman Distinguished Service Professor in Economics at the University of Chicago, visited the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) and held an engaging and insightful discussion with the Hon’ble Chairman and the Member Secretary. During the meeting, Prof. Greenstone appreciated the progress made by Maharashtra in implementing the Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) and discussed its potential as a scalable, market-based instrument for improving air quality. The discussions also explored opportunities for advanced research collaborations, particularly the use of machine learning and data-driven tools to predict environmental compliance violations—an initiative that would be a first of its kind in Maharashtra. Following this, Prof. Greenstone and the Member Secretary exchanged views on various prospective collaborative projects and shared a lighter, informal conversation on common interests, including reading and books. As a gesture of goodwill, the Member Secretary presented Prof. Greenstone with a copy of Blue Ocean Strategy, reflecting the shared emphasis on innovative and forward-looking approaches to policy and governance. The visit marked a valuable exchange of ideas and reinforced MPCB’s commitment to adopting innovative, research-backed solutions for environmental management in the state.

On 12th Oct, Hon Chief Justice of India Justice Bhushan Ramakrishna Gavai felicitates the Member Secretary for completing the Mandangadh court complex in record time and effectively coordinating with all agencies and apprising the Hon Bombay High Court regularly. The Consul General of Japan in Mumbai, Mr. Koji Yagi-san, visited the Board’s headquarters for a high-level meeting. This visit is set to provide global momentum to Maharashtra’s environmental conservation initiatives. Under the visionary leadership of MPCB Chairman Shri. Siddhesh Kadam ji and Member Secretary Shri. M. Devender Singh ji (IAS), a significant step has been taken toward fostering cooperation between Japan and MPCB for environmental protection. This collaboration aims to effectively address pollution challenges by integrating advanced Japanese technology with expertise. An MOU was signed between Osaka City Environment Bureau and the MPCB at MPCB Hq. The event was attended by Mr. Shunsuke Kawabe (Manager, Environment Bureau, Osaka City Government Japan), Ms. Akiko Doi (Senior Programme Officer, International Cooperation Division, Global Environment Centre Japan), Mr. Tomoya Motoda (Senior Programe Officer, International Cooperation Division, Global Environment Centre Japan), Ms. Nakajima Nao, Ms. Chika Kataoka, Mr. Shunichi Honda, Mr. Anshuman Basu, and senior officials from the MPCB.

Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) organized a State-Level Conference on “Circular Economy for Sustainable Development in Maharashtra” at Navi Mumbai. The conference was inaugurated by Hon’ble Member Secretary Shri M. Devender Singh (IAS). Dr. Rajendra Rajput Assistant Secretary (Technical), Shri. Satish Padwal Joint Director (APC), Shri. Sanjay Bhuskute Public Relations Officer, Shri. Nandkumar Gurav (Technical Advisor), along with other officials and staff members, graced the occasion with their august presence. Representatives from various industry associations, officials of the Material Recycling Association of India, environmental experts, researchers, and industry representatives, were also present.
