Survey of Water Quality in Swimming Pools in Mumbai
Survey of Water Quality in Swimming Pools in Mumbai and surrounding area undertaken by MPCB for Free Residual Chlorine Parameters, in June 2006.
Water quality of the swimming pool is of Prime importance next to the drinking water as it comes in direct contact with the human body & it is related to the health of the people. Hence its quality has to be maintained from the health point of view & waste water arising from the swimming pools should also meet the standards prescribed by the Boards. Chlorination of the swimming pool is an important factor.
However, as per the IS:3328:1993 Chemical Tolerance for Total Free Residual Chlorine for Swimming Pool water is an inlet- max 0.5mg/L and outlet- min 0.2mg/L. It is important to maintain the chlorine content in the water as per its tolerance for maintaining quality.
A survey has been undertaken by MPCB to identify the concentration of Residual Chlorine in Swimming Pools at various hotels, private clubs, corporation pools etc. in Mumbai & surrounding areas during 30th May 2006 to 3rd June 2006. The results of the survey are tabulated along with other relevant information. 32(thirty two) places were monitored by Central Laboratory of MPCB. The analysis report shows that from 32 places 27 places have the excess T. Residual Chlorine than the limit. The information regarding this is in attached report.
